Mission Statement:
The mission of Cobblestone Corner is to provide a safe, stable, nurturing and educationally enriching environment in which children of all ages can thrive, grow, play, and learn.
Our program meets the developmental needs of all children and supports them as they grow physically, emotionally, creatively, cognitively, and socially.
By the time our students leave Cobblestone Corner some goals we would like them to:
- be independent in many areas
- know how to form healthy and respectful bonds with caregivers and peers and to be able to share, give and receive love
- be able to work as a team/ group and be able to share, collaborate, take turns
- begin to develop self-control and self-discipline skills
- begin to understand their bodies like what good health practices, hygiene, and nutrition are
- use their large and small motor skills they will need for kindergarten and beyond
- have the tools and curiosity to ask questions and think critically and creatively
- develop a positive self-esteem and self-image of themselves
- acquire the many literacy skills that will set them up to be successful and confident learners
We aim to encourage independence and confidence. A child’s confidence grows as they learn to accomplish new tasks on their own. Students are provided with numerous opportunities to grow in these areas like helping to clean up the play areas themselves before moving on to a different activity and learning how to put on their own coats, shoes, and socks and how to dress for outside.

Philosophy
Early childhood is the most vital phase in human growth and development. This is when the foundation for learning, in so many various areas, is set. The learning that occurs during this time must be engaging, creative, diverse, and planned with sound principles of child development in mind.
At Cobblestone Corner we believe school and learning should therefore be a time of discovery and exploration. Most of what young children learn is through sensory experiences, which is why we promote, encourage, and incorporate learning into play.
Cobblestone Corner Preschool is based on the philosophy that each child develops at their own rate. Students have daily opportunities to explore all the areas of the school and to socialize with friends in which to share, play, role play and plan with others. They are also provided with many structured and teacher guided activities in which to learn and practice new skills. This is done through our curriculum which incorporates learning into fun monthly or weekly themes where concepts, skills and information are presented in fun and memorable ways.
With an influence by the Waldorf approach, where teachers most often stay with the same class of students for many years instead of teaching a specific grade, at Cobblestone corner teachers are with the same group of students throughout their time in our program. This enables teachers to gain an understanding of each child. Because of this we can utilize this deeper understanding of each child to support each student individually as they grow physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. The staff at Cobblestone Corner are encouraged to inspire lifelong learners. This is done by modeling or encouraging curiosity everyday by asking questions or learning about what interests them.
We believe that past and present experiences, cultures, and each family’s values, beliefs, and home life shape who a person is so we value to creating healthy relationships and connections between our teachers and families/ caregivers so that we can support each child and help them flourish.
